When we were in Chattanooga, we decided to take the kids on a train ride. But this? Was not just any train ride. It was a train ride UP A MOUNTAIN, at some ridiculous angle like 70 degrees. Backwards. So you ride up. Looking DOWN.
Fuh-reaky.
We hopped in, sat down, and took stock. The kids were excited. Nervous. Blase. (Respectively, of course)
The first several hundred feet were fine. going up a little hill, seeing people's houses literally built into the mountain three feet from the train tracks...very cool.
Then is started getting a little steeper, and someone started taking things a little bit more seriously.
By the end of the trip, we were literally facing almost completely down. It felt like we were on a rollercoaster at the crest of the rail, just before they drop you. It was intense.
At the station at the top of Lookout Mountain, you can go out to an overlook and, on a clear day, see 6 states. It was...high. Very high.
The kids had fun exploring and checking out the view, and then we prepared for the trip...back down the mountain...facing forward this time!

WOW!! What a crazy train ride!! That view from the top is incredible!!
wow that is an amazing view but I think that would scare the crap out of me!!
We've been there several times and I just couldn't bring myself to make the ride. Maybe next time. It does look beautiful, but even the pictures made me feel dizzy.
It's amazing the little jewels of fun that are hiding all over, huh? I think I'll have to take my kids there. It's just an hour and a half drive for us!
What an awesome view!! I'm totally going to have to talk Mike into taking me there sometime!
Oh fun! Looks like a great time!
How cool! I will have to put that on my list of things to do with the kids someday!
