Low-Tech

As you can see, I found my camera cord! Here are the pictures from Ava's dance recital. She did a bunch of dances and even had a solo! Thank goodness her hair stayed in it's bun all day! She was adorable, and did great! The trophy was definitely the highlight for her. She had a great time and want to go every week, even though she was the youngest there by about 4 years. I told her there was no way she had enough in her piggy bank for that!

We have the internet back now, but Seth, Jace and I (Ava was having quality time with my mom) spent a really nice day yesterday with no technology at all, pretty much. No tv, no computers, just hanging out. He hung out in the kitchen with me while I cooked, colored some Pirate maps, played with trucks, and we played with the dogs. It was a lot of fun and really, really relaxing. We didn't even answer the phone when it rang.

Then, I went to bed at 9 pm.

Yes. I'm serious. I don't know the last time I did that. Possibly never. It was completely involuntary...I got the kids into bed, sat down to read, and the next thing I knew, it was the middle of the night. Crazy! Apparently, I needed some sleep.

Oh yeah...and I need some help. Seth's birthday is fast approaching, and I have yet to have an idea of what to do! Suggestions??? Keep in mind we live in Florida, so it is super hot and we're currently in the rainy season. Seth is also NOT walking, so something he can enjoy would be nice. I don't know if I'm up to the insane level of cleaning that would be necessary to have the party at home. Thanks for any tips!

I had my daughter's 1st birthday at The Little Gym. She wasn't walking yet either but still really enjoys it. I invited kids from a few months to about 6 years old and everyone had a great time. Good luck!

I love the pictures of Ava. Her hair looks fantastic! She is beautiful.

we just did Lauren's birthday at home. Since it was mostly family, and mostly adults we just had food and cake and hung out and enjoyed everyone's company.

Hi El! I have commented a few times before but it has been awhile. I just wanted to say that Ava is gorgeous! You guys are going to have your hands full when she is a teenager. ;)

Also, about the b-day party. I don't live in Florida so I'm not sure what all you guys have down there but I would suggest looking into a gym that has gymnastics for preschoolers. Sometimes they offer birthday parties. I work at one and they're a lot of fun! It would be great for Seth because he could get down and crawl all over the mats. The older kids can play on the bars and other equipment. Either that or a park with a big gazebo or pavilon.

Hey El! First let me comment on Ava's pics, they are wonderful! She is a beauty and I agree with a comment above, watch out when she is a teen! LOL I have not been into checking blogs for a while, 2 weeks. I admire your post of What Should Be Here. I have been dealing with my teenage son, age 16and getting into trouble with us and we recently had him go to his father's for a while, and I can't write about it on my blog, rather I won't let myself. So, good for you to blog and get it out! :)

Just like others said, gave it at a Kiddo or Toddler gym. It's 100% baby proof and good for babies from 3 months up!

We had my daughter's second birthday at ChickfilA. It was easy and they kids (and adults too!) had a blast. Her birthday is January so we're so limited to inside activities then!
Ava looked so pretty...I love her ballerina bun!
