Heavyweight Champion!

005

Little Miss Vivi is one of the fastest nursers I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Lots of feedings, she only nurses on one side, and she's done in fifteen minutes or so. Therefore I'm sure you can imagine that as a true over analyezer I've been freaking out about her weight for a while.

I've kept myself from weighing her though, because I didn't want to be tempted to supplement, and so I was basically a bundle of nerves going into her doctor's appointment today.

But I should have known this very blessed little girl would keep surprising us all...she weighed in at a whopping 6 pounds 7 ounces, which is nearly two pounds up from her birth weight! Not a bad 6 week birthday present for our baby girl! She's right on track, gaining an average of an ounce a day. She's such a trooper.

She's also gained almost three inches in length since her birth and according to her pediatrician, she already has better muscle tone than Seth had at six months of age, let alone six weeks. Of course then she felt bad and apologized to Seth, who was giving her a dirty look.

She got her second Synagis (to help prevent RSV) shot as well, which the insurance company thankfully approved. I'm relatively sure that Synagis is more expensive per ounce than, well....something really expensive.

Coming up, we start our first round of specialist visits. Evany's dance card is all filled up with a Cardiologist, Pulmonologist, Opthamologist, and probably someone I'm forgetting. Hopefully these visits will result in her Apnea monitor going bye bye and a clean bill of health, especially concerning the heart and eye issues she may be dealing with. But until I'm told otherwise, I'm going to keep on thinking she is just as healthy as she looks!

For the record, she's beginning to wake up more and more, which would be more enjoyable during the day than when she's currently gracing me with her wide awake presence. She's also crying more, and she sounds exactly like a brand new baby...her lungs have arrived, apparently! At least she's still cute even if she's not still quiet! She likes to be rocked slightly violently in the bouncy seat, and I'm considering dragging the swing out to let her try it out, although I do love the absence of baby paraphernalia in the living room!
