These are some of my favorite shots from our time spent exploring at the park, which is coincidentally the same place we held Eli's memorial service. I didn't plan that, but I did think it was pretty cool when I realized it!
It was a lot of fun to follow her around the park and take pictures, although it wasn't so fun when we packed up and headed back to the van only to realize that my keys had fallen out of my pocket sometime during our adventuring. Luckily after twenty minutes of retracing our steps, we found them and still made it it drop off Ava's lunch and pick up Seth on time. I swear, it's always something!
Evany had her one year check up today and basically got a shiny, flashy, clean bill of health! She's officially caught up. Or close to it, anyway. She weighs nearly 22 pounds and is a hair away from 31 inches long, which puts her in the 80th percentile for weight and the 97th for height (for her adjusted age of ten months...not sure what that would be for a full term baby). Evany is officially my first baby to make it to a year of age in the infant bucket car seat. Amazing. She's come so far...it's crazy to think of how little she was. Today at Target I saw a Baby's First Christmas sleeper that Evany wore last year in a preemie size. I got a little emotional realizing how small she was! No longer, though. She's a big, healthy one year old!
She's pulling up and cruising, and I wouldn't be surprised to see her take her first steps within the next month or two. Ava and Jace weren't very early walkers (they both began walking at 13 months), and we all know Seth took his sweet time. I'm fairly certain that Evany will fall right in between their examples. She's extremely active and wiggly right now and not even a little bit cuddly. Just like her big sister when she was Evany's age in that way...there is always something better to do than sit around with mom! Luckily I've got Seth for unlimited snuggles.
Now that Evany has finally started eating, she is eating EVERYTHING. She has yet to turn down a food, and she's eating multiple six ounce jars at each meal. Never having used jarred food before, it seems like a lot, but she keeps shoveling it down. Fruit, vegetables, meats...she couldn't care less as long as you keep it coming. Quickly.
She's basically a joy to have around. She plays well, she sleeps great, and she is easy to entertain. She even started saying Mama the other day, although to be fair I was bribing her with her first taste of ice cream. You gotta do what you gotta do. For those of you who have asked, the mark on Evany's forehead is a birthmark. It's lightened up some since her birth, but not as much as I thought it would. Jace had it, too, but you can hardly see it at all anymore except for when he is hot or upset. Evany's will probably fade with time, but while it used to bother me, now I think it's kind of cute.
