Christmas!

So I managed to make my kids stay in bed on Christmas morning until eight! It was a real accomplishment, if I do say so myself. Seth was really into opening his own gifts this year. Of course, that didn't stop Ava and Jace from offering to open his gifts for him about twenty times. I think Ava was most excited about "unstuffing" her stocking, though. Evany slept through the entire gift opening extravaganza, but we were still thrilled to have her there and not in the hospital!

After we finished opening presents at home, we headed over to the kids' Dad's place to open presents all over again. I have to say that this is one aspect of us being separated that they are fans of...two sets of presents. We hung out there for a couple of hours and watched the kids throw themselves into a ditch over and over. I have no idea what made it fun, but they were having a total blast. They got to hang out with their Uncle Jason, who we haven't gotten to see since Eli's memorial service, and it was great to see him.

I spent all afternoon on Christmas day bemoaning the fact that I was starving to death and not one single restaurant near us was open because they hated me, and then I finally sucked it up and made spaghetti for me and the kids and our friend Jeremy, who is a bachelor and always has to cook for himself if he wants to eat, so I guess it was worth getting my lazy self up to make dinner for all of us. Even though I complained the entire time about how I'd rather be having pizza.

Our house literally looked like a toy store threw up by Christmas night. It was kind of making me twitch, but I managed to resist the urge to clean too much and just hung out instead, watching the kids run from one toy to another like chickens with their heads cut off. It was pretty entertaining, I have to say.
