No, I'm not talking about this Mandy, although she is also amazing (Love you, Horbuckle! Hee).
This Mandy and I share an awesome and terrible bond, one of those bonds that makes you thank God for the other person while being incredibly mad they've been through what you've been through.
Her son Connor and my son Eli share a birthday. They were born on the same day, one year apart, and they died on the same day, one year apart.
Connor died from a condition called Vasa Previa. Blood vessels belonging to the baby from the placenta or umbilical cord cross the birth canal, and when not diagnosed prior to labor, the condition had a high mortality rate. When diagnosed prior to birth, though, the baby has a much better chance of surviving.
In fact, almost a year ago exactly, I wrote this post about Mandy and Connor. Then I was lucky enough to get to meet Mandy in person over the summer when we were both pregnant, and she was just as great in real life as I knew she would be.
Last year, Mandy held a 5K in Connor's memory on his birthday and donated all of the proceeds to the Vasa Previa Foundation.
This year, as the boys' birthday approached again, I was excited to see that she's come up with another fun way to contribute to raising money to the foundation.
And I'm a big fan of what she thought up.
How cute are these bows? I think they're adorable, don't you? I kind of love them. If you like them, too, Mandy will very happily make one or two or seven for you, too! It's guilt free shopping at it's finest...all proceeds go to the Vasa Previa Foundation and the pretty flowered headbands will come straight to you for the little girl in your life. These are Evany's dream come true...the girl is losing all of her hair at a rapid rate.
The headbands are six bucks a piece, but if you order two or more they're just five dollars a pop!
Go Here to check out Mandy's blog and find out how to order headbands for your very own self. You know you want to.
