Gala '10

The Gala went really well! I still haven't heard how much money the school raised, but I have a feeling it was a bunch...people seemed to be up and bidding all night long! Here's a picture of me with the table I decorated:

I was really pleased with how it turned out, considering I was seriously lacking in motivation this year. All the fabric was less then 2 bucks a yard in the clearance section of Joann Fabrics, and I found the windmills (they're bird feeders) at Michael's and painted them myself. That was a silly move on my part, because they were way more time consuming than I thought they would be. The night before the Gala I was silly enough to make plans to hang out with a friend, and believe me, being covered in paint feverishly painting windmills for an event that is less than 24 hours a way is not my best look.

But they did turn out well, if I do say so myself, and I even managed to pound a flameless candle into each of them for ambience, although I highly doubt windmills had electric light. I had to use a screwdriver to get the things in through those tiny doors, and now the candles are permanent residences of those windmill/birdhouse things. The box said the candles would stay lit for 72 hours, and I can testify to that fact, considering I lit them on Saturday afternoon and the suckers have been lighting up my hallway all weekend.

But it was fun, and even better than that, it's over for another year. As usual I was so busy with my table and other responsibilities, like singing a song into a non working microphone (fun!), that I barely got to socialize with anyone else in the room, and there were a whole lot of someone elses. I'm fairly certain well over 300 elses, although I might be off on that.

Mara is going to kill me for posting a picture of her 36 week pregnant self on my blog, but isn't she just the cutest thing you've ever seen? I think she looks amazing. She matched her table, it was excessively cute. The other beautiful girl in this picture is my friend Laura, who is pretty adorable herself.

And here are a couple of the ladies who were sweet enough to come with their husbands for the second year in a row...I informed that I will need them to commit to coming for about 13 more years (after which Evany will graduate out of NCA), then they can be off the hook. They were good sports about it. I always like good sports, although I am really not one.

But yes, I think I can officially declare the Gala a success and put it out of my head for another several months. Yay!

Oh, and I will be drawing a winner for the giveaway soon...the kids want to help, and we've been insane.
