Yep, he finally did it! Two days shy of his 16 month birthday, Seth took his first unassisted steps. He was cruising on the couch and as I came walking out of my bedroom, he apparently got very excited to see me, and before either one of us knew it, he was just running towards me, holding onto nothing! It was literally the first time he had even attempted to stand without support, much less walk (or run!) He made it all four or five steps to me and we all lost it, screaming and yelling and dancing around. He was a little taken aback at first, but it didn't take long for him to catch onto the fact that he got a whole lot of attention for attempting to walk. So he wanted to do it again. And again. And so on. Repeat for about an hour.
None of his attempts were quite as successful as his first run across the floor, but he's definitely got the idea in his head now and he's moving with purpose! As you can see in the pictures, he is just thrilled with himself. He couldn't stop smiling the entire time. I don't know if he knew what in the world he was doing, but he knew it was a very big deal!
Go Baby Go! His therapist is going to die when she sees him this week. Up to now, he has been completely content cruising from place to place and has never shown any interest in standing or walking unassisted. I guess we should have tried screaming and yelling like lunatics sooner!
